Cheryl and Robert are heading north and taking Instincts to a whole new level. (Excuse the pun!) Previously part of a pop/rock band, the duo exploited the newfound creative energy to the full and officially launched themselves in April 2009 with the highly successful event Instincts’ Rhythmic Paths.
Cheryl and Robert’s first venture was to perform covers from artists with whom they shared a similar taste in music genre including, amongst others: whimsical Kate Nash, energetic KT Tunstall, mellow Katie Melua, innovative Ingrid Michaelson, colourful Regina Spektor, melancholic Emigliana Torrini, out-of-the-box Joni Mitchell and angelic Eva Cassidy. Such traits went on to become the foundations of Instincts’ original material.
They have showcased their love for good music at various events including a number of prominent pubs and venues, Vince Fabri’s Poeżija+, University’s Move for Health Day and more recently have participated in this year’s edition of the magical Notte Bianca.
The past summer has been a pivotal one for this duo as they crossed the channel to the beautiful Island of Gozo and recorded their first, soon-to-be released single with the invaluable contribution of Chasing Pandora’s Keith Anthony. (Cheers Keith!)
So what is the next Instinctive step? Besides experimenting with a couple of techniques (yes, Robert is now trying his hand at lyric writing!), a number of gigs are up this duo’s sleeve. Instincts also release a number of fun yet insightful videos on their YouTube channel, which have created quite a commotion in the past. Other exciting activities and opportunities are in the limelight and details will soon be out on the constantly updated Facebook page.
