For Strings Inn have just released their new single ‘Morning Star’ on local radios and on the web. This is the first release for the band after their debut EP, and is one of the songs which will be included in the new album that the band is working on.

Accompanying the single For Strings Inn also released their first music video, directed and produced by Nick Morales and No Sweat Productions. The music video is available online and will be featured on local TV stations this month.

“It has been a busy summer for us. We already recorded 5 songs for our new album together with producer David Vella at Temple Studios and also had the first experience in producing a music video. We are really pleased of what we achieved in these three months, and the sound of our new music”, explained Ryan Abela, drummer of the band.

The 30th Farsons Great Beer Festival

This year’s edition will be held at Ta’ Qali Park from Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 31st July 2011. The festival opens at 8pm each night with Vodafone once again being main sponsors of this year’s edition. Entrance is free.

The Farsons Great Beer Festival was held for the first time in 1981 at Argotti Gardens in Floriana with subsequent editions held in Tigne in Sliema and at Ta’ Xbiex Marina. The festival has been held at Ta’ Qali Park for the last ten years, where it has grown into the largest summer festival on the island and has become one of the main events in the summer calendar with a great festival atmosphere.

The Farsons Great Beer Festival is enjoyed by people of all ages, and the open-air entertainment caters for everyone, young and old, making it a great family outing or night out with friends. Malta’s established artists and bands perform on two stages every night. The festival is also known to be a starting platform for many up-and-coming bands and artists who are given the opportunity to perform to a large audience.

In fact, for the first time ever, this year, due to the numerous enquiries received from new bands and artists to perform in the festival, it was decided to collect all applicants and give them the opportunity to participate in an event to showcase their talent. Rock the Fest, a music competition organised in collaboration with Vodafone and Hard Rock Café, was held at Hard Rock Café in Baystreet throughout June and ended last week. Two winning bands, and a surprise third band, judged by local music professionals as well as public votes, have been given the opportunity to perform on the Rock Stage during the festival. The winning bands were Bridget Bone, 12th Ode and Plan Zero who will be performing on Friday the 22nd of July, Tuesday the 26th of July and Friday the 29th of July respectively.

Ira Losco performing live at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin – Video

On Saturday 2nd of July, Ira Losco performed live on the main stage of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin in front of an audience of 70,000 people. The performance kicked off at 21.15, and was also broadcasted on various TV stations. On the 3rd of July she’ll also performed a live set at the Pavillion, which attracted a further 19,000 visitors. Ira also performed some other smaller shows in very intimate settings with her band during her stay in Berlin.

Dimal is a Russian hip-hop singer-songwriter based in Malta who often collaborates with fellow Malta-based singer & songwriter Maddee. Together they wrote a song called “Shake it” (produced by MelowBOX) which received major air play in Malta and was on Malta’s Top 10 Charts for 4 weeks on Bay Radio, also on Itunes and Amazon worldwide. His 1st single from his forthcoming EP was called “I C U Like Me” (produced by Ilya Ferre) which received major airplay in Malta. The song also has two official remixes (feat. C.CAMARRO and Maddee). The Official release of this single was on the most popular hip-hop web-site in Ukraine RAP.UA.

He has supported established artists such as “Ja Rule” and “Flo Rida”. Currently Dimal is working on his EP Mista International which will be supported by DJ Kris-Stylez from Black Wall Street and will be released September/October 2011.

A former winner of Best Hip Hop & R/B Artist in the Malta Music Awards, Dimal just released a brand new single Summer club banger for party people called “HELL YEAH” which you can find here!

Both Mikaela and her sista Yorika g…ot accepted at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music after recent stages of auditions to attend the intense program starting soon! They are now preparing their way to Boston in less than a month, where they will be giving concerts and writing new music as well! So the question comes naturally, what better can they celebrate their last appearance here in Malta (for now!) other than hitting the stage with the wickedly wicked Jimmy , John and Anthony for their last performance this summer?

Yeah it’s gonna be a long way ahead when you’d be seeing them again so they are inviting you all, the friends, followers and music lovers to mark your calendars on 30th June and show them your support on the night before they leave the island! Come check them out and be ready for an outburst of surprises when they come back!
